THE TRUTH ABOUT GLOBAL WARMING
By Charles N. Spence, Jr.
I am not a scientist nor the son of a scientist. I am
very ignorant when it comes to physics and the laws that govern that
discipline. I know very little about meteorology and absolutely nothing about
geology other than I know a rock when I see one. Ecology is another discipline
concerning which I claim very little and insignificant knowledge. I know that
ecology concerns itself with how living things relate to their environment. We
are constantly being told that our ecosystem is fragile and doomed to failure
unless “human beings” repent of their crimes upon mother earth. You see, humans
are responsible for all of the earth’s natural disasters according to the
guardians of the environment. Irregular climatic conditions are the result of
man’s failure to curb his lust for power and fortune. In the end, we are all
going to burn because of what we have done to the ozone. Aerosol sprays,
deodorants and even perfumes are causing the destruction of the ozone. These
products and other such things will be man’s undoing and cause the earth to
meet with an untimely end. But what do these people know.
Again, I have no credibility in the scientific community.
Much of what these people say is over my head and the heads of most people. And
people are often moved by the fancy and impressive rhetoric and unbridled
passion of these people who make such claims about the earth’s ecosystem. I
know I do not have the capacity, the knowledge, nor the desire to test their wild
claims. One thing I do know is that there is not a product, device or any such
thing that will be responsible for the earth’s destruction. Just as
The manner in which the Bible describes the end of all
things is as certain to happen as a rainy day in
Yes, as stewards of God’s earth, man has a responsibility
to exercise good stewardship over it. However, man must also realize that all
the prevention and restrictions upon products and industry will not be enough
to prevent global warming. The earth along with the universe will be destroyed
by fire. Concerning this God has made a promise (2 Pet. 3:13). God will
establish new heavens and a new earth wherein nothing will be able to destroy,
defile or damage (Rev. 21:27). Since this is the case concerning the new
heavens and earth and such the ecologist’s and environmentalist’s ultimate
desire in preservation and purity, you would think that such people would be
more zealous to be a part of that new order. However, the truth is, they love
THIS world too much. In the new earth, only those who are righteous can inhabit
it. Unless man changes his ways and thinking toward God, he will have more to
be concerned with than global warming. “And
anyone not found written in the lambs Book of
life was cast into the lake of fire” (Rev. 20:15).
