REMEMBER ME!

Luke 23:39-43

Introduction: When we are faced with the day of God's judgment, certainly we hope that the Lord will remember us. The Bible is replete with evidence that the Lord will not forget those who continue in his will (Isa. 49:15 Heb. 6:10).

A.     Let us do all that we should to be remembered by the Lord

B.     Let us be mindful of the fact that unless we are doing God's will, we put ourselves in jeopardy of being forgotten

C.     We must also remember the Lord, if want Him to remember us

D.    Only then, will we be with Him in paradise

I.        There will be those who will be forgotten by the Lord

A.     Many religious people will not be remembered

1.      In Matthew 7:21-23 those who fail to do God's will

2.      In Matthew 25:1-13 those who are not prepared and on guard

B.     Those who forget God shall be turned to hell (Psalm 9:17)

1.      Psalm 50:22

2.      We forget the Lord when we do not His commandments (Heb. 2:1-3)

3.      To remember Him is to keep His commandments (1 John 2:3-5)

            C. Those who forget the Lord will be forgotten by the Lord (Matt. 10:33)

II.     God has given us every advantage to remember Him

A.     He has given us His word

1.      Proverbs 3:1-6

2.      James 1:22-25

B.     He has given us the beauty of worship

1.      Remember His suffering and death (1 Cor. 11:23-26)

2.      Remember how fortunate we are because of God's blessing in our giving(1Cor. 16:1-2)

3.      We sing praises to His name, pray in His name, hear lessons from His word

C.     Our lives must be filled with expressions that we have not forgotten the Lord

1.      Walk as him (1 John 2:6)

2.      Be perfect as Him (Matt. 5:48)

3.      Think like Him (Phi. 2:5)

4.      Be as pure as Him (1 John 3:2-3)

5.      Be as holy as Him (1 Pet. 1:16)

Conclusion: Only when we remember the Lord by living as He commanded and doing as he says, will He be able to turn to us and say, when we plead with Him to remember us, “today thou shalt be with Me in paradise.”
